Ms. JENNIFER KANE » Mrs. Kane, ELA Teacher

Mrs. Kane, ELA Teacher

I have had the pleasure of teaching ELA to every grade, within our building, since I joined the JHS 194 family in September 2014. This school year, I am teaching ELA to 631, along with Mrs. Rossi, my co-teacher and the support of Mrs. Leston, the 6th Grade ELL teacher. I am also teaching ELA to classes 702, with support from Mrs.Brown, and 704!

As we continue on this academic journey, we are engaging in activities that challenge us to become stronger readers, writers, communicators, listeners and thinkers. I have seen growth in their reading and writing skills thus far. I am eager to see them improve in their speaking and listening skills as the year continues with a focus on being articulate. "Say what you mean!" The best way to expand one's vocabulary is through reading. Weekly i-Ready "My Path" lessons are personalized to the needs of the students based on their Diagnostic results. Our Middle of the Year Diagnostic is scheduled for mid-end of January. Get ready to see the improved scores from the Fall Diagnostic! :)

To stay up-to-date, please review the Parent Letters that I have posted here which provide an overview of the texts/topics we will be covering from mid-January to mid-March.

I have truly enjoyed creating relationships with all students and their families thus far and look forward to the remainder of the 2024-2025 academic year!
